Abducting Aliens A previously unknown, telepathically linked and allasomorphic race who kidnapped Picard, a Mizarian and a Chalnoth like lab rats in 2366 in order to study the concept of leadership, which they lack. TNG "Allegiance" 3-66 Acamarian A humanoid race from Acamar III. Mostly like Terrans except their blood is a unique iron/copper composite. For the past century, they have enjoyed peace, except for the nomadic marauding Gatherers. They also have a slight cleft in their forehead and often display individualized facial tattooing. The Acamarians have strongly divided clan structures and membership in one is of extreme social and political importance. TNG "The Vengeance Factor" 3-57 Akaali Pre-industrial society encountered by the Enterprise NX-01. The Akaali were suffering from a mysterious plague caused by a secret Malurian mining operation. Luckily, Captain Archer uncovered this information, destroyed the operation, and left behind a cure for the Akaali. ENT "Civilization" 1-9 Akritirian Race from Akritiri. Technologically sophisticated civilization in the Delta Quadrant. The Akritiri had an oppressive government and a system of justice described by Starfleet observers as cruel and draconian. Their system of justice allowed no possibility of escape or reprieve from their prison on a satellite station. Prisoners were equipped with a cortical implant that caused them to be aggressive and irritated effectively keeping them from cooperating to escape. They were left with no guards or medical facilities. Prisoners were never released. VOY "The Chute" 3-45 Alcyones It was thought that the Alcyones destroyed the last Tarellian plague vessel in 2356. TNG "Haven" 1-11 Aldean The Aldeans are a civilization native to the Alpha Quadrant. Their homeworld of Aldea was considered only a legend for thousands of years. The society was self-contained and self-sustaining with incredible technical sophistication providing daily needs. Similar to cultural myths of Neinman on Xerxes VII or the Earth story of Atlantis, Aldea was said to have shed its past of violence and cultural conflict and evolved to a pure state, devoting themselves to culture and art. The Aldean culture developed by emphasizing the fundamental principle that for "everything taken, something must be returned." It was this principle that allowed their civilization to ascend to incredible heights in technology and art. Having reached enlightenment, the Aldean society retreated from the rest of the galaxy. To facilitate this their progenitors built an enormous and advanced planet-wide defense system. The system, run by the computer called the Custodian, maintained an immense cloaking device and defense shield in addition to a repulsor beam powerful enough to push starships several hundred light years away. TNG "When the Bough Breaks" 1-17 Algolians From the Algol System. A humanoid race which is distinguished physically by golden leathery skin with numerous small circular openings about the head, especially on their wide-set nostrils and atop their fluted head ridge similar to Klingons and Bolians. A native plays the culture's famed ceremonial rhythms for the reception ending the biannual trade conference at Betazed. Another native is among the delegates to the Federation Archaeological Council's annual symposium at Tagus III. Some Algolians have more muted head ridges, as seen among those on the Bajoran Space Station and Deep Space Nine, on Stardates 46423.7 and 46844.3. TNG "Ménage à Troi" 3-72 Al-Leyan Unspecified race that had a transport operating from Deep Space Four to Caere IV on Starbase 46731.5. TNG "The Chase" 6-146 Alsaurian The Alsaurians were a Humanoid species that live in the Delta Quadrant. They were first encountered by the USS Voyager in 2372 when an away team was sent to the surface of their homeworld in search of tellerium. Among many others planetary residents, the paranoid and hostile Mokra Order treated Alsaurians as a sub-class and ruled the planet without mercy. The Mokra Order do prohibit them to from having communications equipment and claim to helping Alsaurian against common enemies. VOY "Resistance" 2-28 Alsuran In one possible timeline, the Alsurans were an intelligent species native to a region of space near the Krenim Imperium. The Alsuran Empire was erased from history by Annorax's weapon-ship. The only evidence that they had ever existed is an example of their food, saved by Annorax aboard his ship. This dish was served at a dinner prepared for Annorax, Chakotay, and Thomas Paris in 2374. VOY "Year of Hell, Part II" 4-76 Altec Along with Straleb, part of the Coalition of Madena. Although Altec was technically at peace with Straleb, relations between the two planets had been strained to the point that an interplanetary incident was created when it was revealed that Benzan of Straleb was engaged to Yanar of Altec in 2365. TNG "The Outrageous Okona" 2-30 Andorian The Andorians were a humanoid species from the moon Andoria, homeworld of the Andorian Empire, and one of the founding members of the United Federation of Planets. Most Andorians were blue-skinned with white or silver hair. An Andorian subspecies called the Aenar had white skin and, unlike blue Andorians, were blind and telepathic. Andorians and Aenar were genetically compatible and could produce offspring. Andorians had two supercranial antennae that aided in balance. If one was lost -- a humiliating experience -- an Andorian became partially disabled in the short term, and unable to fight, but could adapt to its loss within a day. Antennae took up to nine months to regrow, though electrical stimulation and cranial massage therapy could cut regeneration time in half. The twenty-second century Andorian Shran, reflecting on his own stub, demonstrated that antennae were moved by voluntary muscles that could be controlled separately from one another. Such movement could express feelings as well; Andorians could point their antennae at potential mates to signify attraction. Society Andorians were a militaristic race, exemplified in small part by weaponry without stun settings. They consider it an honor to serve in their Imperial Guard, and military rank greatly influenced social reputation. Deploring dishonesty -- and never fighting without reason -- Andorians were nonetheless capable of duplicity. They considered themselves deeply emotional, passionate, even violent; not known for their charity or sympathy, they placed a high value on family. Imperial Guard members who died far from home could count on their companions to transport a body part back to the Andorian ices. TOS "Journey to Babel" 2-39 Angosian The Angosians are a humanoid race originating from the planet Angosia III. Outwardly indistinguishable from humans, Angosians eschewed violence, preferring to focus on intellectual development. In the mid-24th century, the Angosians were involved in a protracted conflict called the Tarsian War. Being inherently non-violent, the Angosian authorities were forced to subject their soldiers to genetic engineering and chemical manipulation in order to successfully end the conflict. However, it was discovered that the process was irreversible, and when the war ended, the 'super soldiers' were unable to function within or co-exist alongside the normal population of Angosian society, and as such were confined indefinitely to a penal settlement on an Angosian moon, Lunar V, and considered to be outcasts and criminals. In 2366, the Angosians petitioned to join the Federation. The USS Enterprise-D visited Angosia III to follow up the petition. However, the occasion was interrupted by the escape of the soldier Roga Danar who was pursued by the Enterprise crew at Angosia' III's request. Unfortunately for the planet, while the crew is successful capturing him, they then learn from him of the gross systemic sentient rights violation being committed. While Captain Jean-Luc Picard found that the Angosian government refused to discuss the concern, Danar escape and proceeded to start a rebellion with his fellows. In the face of the planet's unacceptable policies and the resultant civil upheaval caused by them, the application was put on hold for the immediate future. TNG "The Hunted" 3-59 Ankari The Ankari are a spacefaring humanoid civilization in the Delta Quadrant. They have access to warp technology, but use a form of propulsion that is difficult for sensors to detect. They harbored a great respect for what they termed "spirits of good fortune", nucleogenic lifeforms from another realm, which they could summon using a summoning beacon. Antedean Antedeans were a civilization native to the Alpha Quadrant. They were a species of fish-like humanoids from the planet Antede III. Antedeans found spaceflight extremely traumatic and survived the ordeal by entering a self-induced catatonic state. Upon arrival at the end of a voyage, Antedeans required great quantities of food, known as vermicula to replenish their bodies. Few humans saw an Antedean in the flesh. Antedeans had unsophisticated minds that could be easily read by Betazoids; Worf considered them to be "a handsome race," whereas Lwaxana Troi stated that the "last time [she] saw something like that it was being served on a plate." In 2365, the USS Enterprise-D escorted two Antedean dignitaries from Antede III to a conference on planet Pacifica. Here the Antedeans were to be given an opportunity to join the Federation. However, upon transport down to Pacifica it was revealed, by Ambassador Troi, that they were in fact assassins and their robes were lined with ultritium. They had planned on blowing up the entire conference. TNG "Manhunt" 2-45 Antican The Anticans were a large, furry, sentient humanoid species from the planet Antica in the Beta Renner system. Anticans are a carnivorous species who prefer to eat their meat alive. In 2364, the Anticans applied for membership to the United Federation of Planets. The USS Enterprise-D transported their delegates to the planet Parliament to help resolve a long standing dispute with their sister planet, Selay, as part of the admission process. TNG "Lonely Among Us" 1-7 Antos IV Federation planet. Homeworld to benevolent and peaceful people who taught Captain Garth the art of cellular metamorphosis. TOS "Whom Gods Destroy" 3-69 Arbazan A highly conservative semi-humanoid race known for their ultra-right, almost Fascist, political and social policies, with a reputation for arrogance. Members of the Federation, they are perennial sources of right wing dissent among the liberal Federation. They are easy to take offense, and find haven in boring, bureaucratic jobs or mundane research jobs. They are mostly humanoid except with a vestigial ridge just above the eyebrow and along the nose. DS9 "The Forsaken" 1-17 Arcturian A race of humanoids from Arcturus VI. Arcturians are hairless and have very, very loose skin, to the point where there are dozens of loose folds of skin throughout the body. Arcturians generally frown on sexual reproduction, and often choose to have themselves cloned. Arcturian culture frowns on individuality and sexuality and encourages conformity and asexuality. Arcturus VI is a member of the Federation, although their culture often causes conflicts with the other worlds. TNG "Ménage à Troi" 3-72 Ardanan Workers on the planet surface of Ardana. The wealthy lived on the cloud city Stratos. TOS "The Cloud Minders" 3-76 Argala Planet in the Delta Quadrant which had an arctic tundra climate, was home to a technologically sophisticated civilization. Some Argalan were captured by the Nyrian operatives. VOY "Displaced" 3-67 Argelian A race of humanoids from the strategically important world of Argelius II. A culture devoted to peace and pleasure. Almost identical to Terrans. The resorts of Argelius are known for their warm hospitality, good food, and virtually nonexistent crime rate. Some Argelian women are known to have certain empathic and low grade telepathic abilities. The Argelians have little ability or desire for administration and usually hire outworlders for most low and mid level governmental jobs. TOS "Wolf in the Fold" 2-43 Argosian A race of aquatic humanoids from an unknown world in deep space. While capable of surviving in an atmospheric environment with a breathing mask, they prefer to travel in class N accommodations. Short tempered and egotistical, they are often distrusted or outright hated by many. They prefer not to fight, as their water supply proves an easy target. They were once an air breathing race of humanoids, until global warming eradicated all but a few square kilometers of ground. Advanced Argosian genetic technology made this change possible, along with advanced structural and electrical engineering that allowed an entire civilization to be moved underwater. DS9 "Dax" 1-8 Argrathi Humanoid society native to planet Argratha. The Argrathi had an unusual form of punishment for criminals that involved implanting memories into the accused's brain. These memories would cause the criminal to have effectively experienced years of brutal incarceration, when in reality, no actual prison time was served. Thereby saving the government the cost of building and operating prisons. DS9 "Hard Time" 4-91 Arkarian There is a Federation facility located on the planet Arkaria. Starships can dock in the array above the facility for baryon decontamination sweeps. While the Enterprise-D was there, terrorists boarded the Enterprise to steal trilithium resin from the ship's engines. The team of thieves were lead by the Station's Administrator, Mr. Orton. TNG "Starship Mine" 6-144 Arritheans Delta Quadrant civilization. Voyager had trade dealings with the Arritheans. VOY "Revulsion" 4-73 Atrean Atreans are a humanoid race from Atrea IV characterized by skin involutions in the temporal region of the cranium that fuse with enlarged ears. Atrea IV is a class M world and a member of the Federation. Atrea IV recently underwent a ferroplasmic infusion to reliquify it's solidifying core, which was causing massive seismic, magnetic, and gravitational disruptions. Atrean culture is one based on electronic entertainment and an industrial economy. Atrea IV is a leading manufacturer of computer systems, recreational holodeck programming, and commercial communications. TNG "Inheritance" 7-162 Avianoid Aliens Members of this unspecified humanoid species distinguished by white, shaggy hair and a beak-like mouth continuing up into a Klingon-like forehead ridge are seen frequenting DS9. One wealthy native was invited by Quark to the auction of Vash's artifacts in 2369. DS9 "The Forsaken" 1-17 Axanar Jonathan Archer's crew discovered a ship full of Axanar bodies drained of their triglobulin-rich bodily fluid. An Axanar ship later saved the Enterprise NX-01 from an attack by the same parasitic species that killed their people. After helping the Axanar recover their dead crewmen, the Enterprise crew spent some time on the Axanar homeworld. ENT "Fight or Flight" 1-3 ![]() | ||
